Prevention and Management of Gender-based Violence

On Friday 9 December 2011 the CCGHE, in partnership with the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, hosted an event to launch our new distance education course for clinicians focused on the prevention and management of gender-based violence.  A live video link was established between Hopkins, Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and Makerere College of Health Sciences in Uganda.

CCGHE and the Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI)

On Tuesday, 29 November 2011, the CCGHE will support the first Ugandan-Ethiopian collaborative distance learning program.  This unique program is supported by the Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI).  MEPI is a $130 million 5 year program, supported by the US Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), providing funding to more than 30 top medical schools in 12 African countries.  The goal of MEPI is to develop novel and effective approaches to train >150,000 clinicians in Africa and to meet the increasing health care needs of the continent.
