Summary:
This retrospective descriptive analytical study reviews the clinical profile and outcome of children with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and extra-pulmonary tuberculosis admitted to a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in a tertiary care hospital.

The study will evaluate the clinical profile and outcome of TB patients in PICU over a three-year period (May 2011-May 2014). Located in Pune, India, Sassoon General Hospital is a large state-run tertiary referral health care center with a large peri-urban patient population.

Case records will be reviewed of children between 1 month and 12 years of age who were admitted with a probable diagnosis of either pulmonary or extrapulmonary (including disseminated, abdominal, and neurological forms) tuberculosis to determine the significant factors in pediatric patients admitted with different forms of tuberculosis as well as overall mortality assessment of the patients in relation to their clinical profile.
