Summary:

The Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) HIV course is a self-paced CCGHE distance education initiative developed for our Zambia and India partners to support the continuing clinical education of providers caring for pregnant women with HIV infection. The course is organized into three modules comprised of 4 video demonstrations and 8 lectures, which are delivered by world expert Dr. Jean Anderson (Director of the Johns Hopkins Women's Health Program). Course material covers antenatal HIV counseling & testing, antiretroviral treatment (ART) & management of HIV-related complications during pregnancy, intrapartum care, and infant feeding. Originally developed as a facilitated course for Zambia in 2009 & 2010 and for India in 2011, the PMTCT HIV course has since been configured into a self-paced, online format accessible to CCGHE website users at no charge. The online course has enrolled more than 380 participants; online pre- and post-tests measure improvement among key knowledge areas, and a Certificate of Achievement is available.
