Palestine

Chronic diseases comprise a large and rising burden in Palestine and account for a large proportion of all deaths in the population. In a 2006 article, Chronic Diseases in Palestine: The Rising Tide, Dr. Hani Abdeen projected a sharp escalation of chronic disease burden over the next 20 years.  Cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, tobacco-related cancer, hypertension, and dyslipidemia are among the highly prevalent diseases in Palestinian society that are inadequately detected and treated.
